ADULT DAY SERVICES
Adults with a mild, moderate or severe/profound intellectual disability, who have attained their 18th birthday and live in our catchment area, may avail of this service (subject to HSE funding). This service operates from 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday. Transport is provided if required. Service users in our day services may also avail of our auxiliary supports i.e. Adult Multi-Disciplinary Team, Personal Development, Sports & Recreation and Adult Education Programmes. Service users are encouraged to join our Drama, Sonas, Activation, Toastmasters, Multi-Sensory, Leisure Library and our Choir groups.
The day services include:-
OCCUPATIONAL ACTIVITIES
This programme is a personal support system which enables individuals to progress at their own pace in a less restrictive employment setting. Occupational Work is available in our Garden Centre, Craft, Printing, Industrial Sewing, Sub-contracting Units, Canteen, Catering, Coffee and Craft Shops. Central to the concept of Occupational Work is the quality of life experienced by the service user. (See Glen Bridge leaflet).
T.E.S.S. (Trainings Employment & Social Skills Programme).
The Foundation has accredited status for the successful provision of its vocational training programme. The purpose of this 3 year programme is the provision of vocational training and personal development. (See T.E.S.S. leaflet).
COMMUNITY DAY CARE CENTRES
The Foundation's policy is that day services for adults with severe/profound disabilities should be located in small community based units. Our day services; Assisi House, Casa Maria, Corran View, Charleville and Oakview, Kilmallock offer adults services specific to their needs. Under the Open Road Project (see separate brochure) some people attending these centres work in local shops and businesses in the Charleville and Kilmallock area.
THE HAVEN
The Haven unit opened in April 2003. It provides a day service for adults with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. The purpose of the unit is to facilitate the service user to realise their full potential, regardless of any barriers that may be perceived.
